need advice on overflow

Hello Steve this is RIck not sure you remember me. I am having a diatom outbreak this week which i hear is fine.

I am being talked back into hooking up my sump it is a simple down one baffle and up .I have ahob overflow withthe siphon and being told to look into something different then that ,What is available at your store for me to use besides that.

also I am looking to get some fighting conchs and some sand sifting whatever .what do you have for me
