anybody have a recommendation for a fish that willeat mushroom, but leave the other stuff alone.

I am having a problem with some blue, red and green striped shrooms that I put in my tank years ago, but are now becoming a major nuisance. short of dismantling the rock work, selling off all the pieces with shrooms and getting all new rock, I was hoping that a fish, maybe an angel, would do the trick. because if I decide to take down the rockscape it would entail getting rid of half my rock. these damn shrooms are everywhere. now they are startin to encroach upon my sps and thats a big no no. so to help eliviate the situation I have been taking the pieces out that are easily accessible and slicing off the shrooms, but that is obviousely just a temporary fix, because within a month they are back.

any ideas would be very much appreciated.

thanks,
Frank

I appreciate all the offers, but the mushrooms are attached to alot of my rock and I would hate to dismatle my whole damn setup. I tried the kalk, didn't really work well enough. The best method seems to just take the pieces of rock out slice as much of of the coral as possible then hit whatever is let with a blow torch. theres nothing like the smell a burning corals... pretty nasty.

I figured it was a long shot, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I always have floating mushrooms around my tank that I usually just scoop up and throw away. if anyone wants what I have let me know. you can come by an pick them up free of charge. I have true blue, red, and fl. green striped shrooms. As a matter of fact I just threw out a few today. I do not deliver. you would have to come to me.

thanks

well I did it I took apart half my rockscape and sliced off about 80% of all the shrooms in my tank. II don't I will be able to ge tto the rest, but I will try. truthfully it is such a shame to kill off all these really nice corals.

I think he's gonna toss em in the garbage. It's a shame, people here would have paid him for them.

yup they are gone.. I could not cut them off the rock and then sell them or give them away. they get to damaged in the process. and I do not want to sell the rock that they where attached to, then that would basically defeat the purpose of selling them, either way I spent a lot of time trying to find the perfect rock for my tank, I literally hand picked ever piece in the tank over the last 5 years.

I do still have a fair amount of shrooms in the tank that I do plan on keeping, but they where getting way to close and damaging way to many very expensive acros and SPS. so they had to go. it is a shame , but since it is a captive environment with no predators we as good stewards have to what we have to do to keep all our inhabitants happy and thriving.
