I have used live sand before and am in the process of moving my 120g fowlr. I plan on using new sand and wanted to know what people think about white, black sand or bare bottom. Aesthetically I prefer sand and always used live carribean and wanted to try something different. How will light effect black and.

I have white/black sand now....and I have had all white. I love all black and want to do all black for ny next tank. Color pops so much with black sand....but tanks with white sand are brighter bc the white sand reflects light better

Just a note. After the tank cycles, all sand is pretty much 'alive'. Buying 'live' sand is just a cool way for retailers to rip you off. I'd bet +50% of all bacteria is dead in that 'live' sand bag.

Just use dry sand and get a few cup fulls of sand from a fellow member.

Also, I'd get large white/off-white sand. Black sand, you really have to plan around it so it looks good.
