Maxi-Jet mod

Has anyone tried the "poor man's Tunze" Maxi-Jet mod?

Reefdom went much more in depth with it then was done on RC. Some Tunze owners gave some good comparison on the two. With the right (single) prop on the 900 mod he said flow was right on par with his Tunze (forget which Tunze he had). I'm going to try it on a 400 with a few different props. I can't believe no MRs tried it! (Or so it seems)

The videos of it in action are REALLY impressive as well. The 900 kicks out some SERIOUS flow with two props. I've read that using one prop with a lower pitch gets a better balance to rpm which in turn pushes much more flow. It seems that people are still trying to work out the "sweet spot" on each Maxi.

Hi. i have the mod that was fabricated my matt. the flow is awsome. but i think i can get more flow out of them if i changed the prop. let me know if you are interestedon seeing these I can post a pick when i get home.

I lack proper tools to make this mod (saws etc) if you have these tools and want to makes these, maybe we can buy some of these parts together and save some cash and make them.

i've been following that thread on RC since it first came out...i have all the parts and have been unsuccesful at glueing everything together...i'll look for the parts and if you want we can meet on a weekend and try to put a few of these together. i have three maxi 1200s i wanna try it with.i like using the wet tile saw (dry) to make the cuts on the pvc, comes out pretty nice. LMK

A company came to NERAC bringing the maxijet mods.... costed a freaking fortune. The mod itself costed $55.00 .......... not including the pump lol.

I saw the links that RC had and IT WAS THE EXACT same thing that was selling at NERAC. THE mod is just incredible it was running and pushing SO much GPH and had > GPH then the tunze they were running i think it was a 6080 tunze stream. They dont recommend using controllers with the mod because parts of the plastic will burn out on the impeller.

Okay. Done. Where and when are we ordering the stuff we need to make this happen? Don't get me wrong, I'm all about grilling, drinking and f#$%ing off all day, but lets accomplish something. I got a lot going on with getting back to work. All the physicals and psych evals are driving me crazy. I was perfectly happy and content until I had to run all over the 5 boroughs talking to doctors. Now, I want to choke someone out.
