GFO and Carbon how much to use on a reactor question

I purchased two reactors from BRS. I have 28g biocube tank. The BRS reef calculator suggests
7 tablespoons of GFO granules
and
4 tablespoon of lignite carbon.
Is the amount they suggest accurate for a tank that small? When I look at the amount, to me GFO looks like a lot, but carbon looks very little. Should I go with the amount the suggest?

When I started using gfo, and carbon, I used .5 grams per gallon on each and worked my way up to 1 gram. I think using too much carbon initially will strip your tank clean to fast leading to bleaching corals, and if you have tangs will lead to lateral line disease.

x2..start below the recommended dosage because as Richie mentioned too much too fast of either especially GFO will strip the water clean too fast causing problems...

I will go below what they recommend, but in your opinion is the BRS calculator accurate? According to rkaragozler I should be using 14g on a 28g tank for both gfo and carbon, isn't that very little? Also BRS calculator uses almost double the amount of GFO, then carbon. As of right now I am going by their measurement, anybody has a formula or another calculator i can check?

IMO, their is no real calculator. their is different kids of carbon, and gfo. For every brand they have a recommended dosage just divide that by half to start.
