Anybody here using LED Pendants like Ecoxotic or Orphek?
I'm looking for some opinions about that light...
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

I bought the led and driver. Mounted it to a heatsink with an attatched fan from a local electronics store. No lense or reflector. I'll try to take a pick later.

I was just about to post this question too.

When I bought my 30 gallon Oceanic cube, it came with a generic 90 watt LED. I have to say that the corals (no SPS; softies and LPS) look happy and it is plenty bright. It also runs cool and the blues really make the corals glow.

However, I feel like it might not be enough light and I am looking to upgrade to a more powerful LED. I wonder what others are using and how they feel about them.

Can you show us how it works?
I ordered parts already including polished reflector and 20-90 degree glass lenses, I want to try 20000K 50w led first to see how it gonna work.

The led I bought is supposed to be 20k. I'm not sure, it looks a crisp white.

Great point! But these are over the center brace of my acrylic tank. I do have 2 other diy led fixtures with 50 3w leds each with no splash guards and They have gotten covered in salt spray. I'll never learn, lol

These ultra power LEDs coating is very different from the 3W. 3W LED problem would mostly be rusting on the contacts and the star circuit layer due to salt moisture but these ultra power LEDs will have diodes directly burnt out because the coating is a type of silicon that are porus for heat transfer out. Unfortunately, salt moisture can also gets in after soiling it. They will die very quickly without a splash guard. When used in our warehouse and parking lot flood lights, they are very good. When use in SW aquarium the splash guard is a must, especially for this kind of LEDs.

Great advice, thank you!!!

Here is a pic with the 1 50w led over my 84x30x30. It looks alittle brighter in the pic, but the color is the same.
