I have had a few diffrent BT in my years of reef keeping the only one that ever bubbled was a green one. Most of the time I have Red ones. the bt are healthy and doing great host my clowns, but do not bubble up any ideas?
I dont think anyone really knows, my speculation is that they bubble up to increase the surface area of the tentacle so they can get more sunlight. In our tanks the lights are more direct and they dont need to.
Alot of times BTA's are found in murky water, i dont mean jersey shore murky but its def more 20K then like a reef top that is like 12k.
When clowns host my anemones they get stringy and long. When there is no clown hosting, they bubble up. Not sure if this happens to everyone but seems to be the case in my tank.

they do it when they feel like it. in mytank in lower intensity lighting they and lower flow they get bubble tips. in higher lighting and higher flow they stay long and wavy.
i have a few clownfish and they host all of the anemonies in my tank and they seem to have no effect on bubble tips
mine is hosted my clown and it is always bubbled. i have had it for a few months and it has never not bubbled except at night. it grabs food(mysis) by itself or sometimes the clown feeds it almost everyday (2-3 pieces) so that might be it. heres a pic- sorry for crappy iphone pic
That brings me to a question... how often do you feed. Is it bad to feed daily. Ive heard of 2-3 times a week. But i give a little every day. Nems sure take it.
i hardly ever direct feed mine. it just grabs what it can when i feed the tank other wise just light! i read that bubble tips only bubble in tanks and not in the wild. but as far as why the bubble-no one knows exactly why
How about lighting? Since I installed LEDs I noticed the tentacles are elongated more than T5.
Also, we accept nems are happy when they stay in one spot and stressed when they split. But how many nems split yet remain in one place. That happened to me.
