Hi people,

well my wife picked up 3 sea horses from the swap and I have them in my frag tank, The lights come on at 9pm so I feed at like 11pm and Im getting tired. I was thinking of setting up a little Nano tank just for the horses, but I really dont know anything about them. Bio cube, nano, and cad light nano. Are they all pretty much the same?

LOL. I got two of those also and I have the same problem (I was up at 5 this am siphoning off brine shrimp that just hatched)

I have mine in the frag tank too with a mess of macro and they seem to be doing ok picking at pods all day with me adding brine shrimp every other day. However, like you, I am thinking I need a small tank for them on the same cycle as my DT.

Not sure what that looks like yet.

The problem with the all in one cubes or reef tanks is they run hot for sea horses, temps should stay low 70's. I'd say a 35 hex or 30 tall would be a better pick, plenty of macro and sea grass for them to hitch to.

Feeding should be 2 times or more per day and preferably mysis not brine as brine has almost no nutritional value.

Any of the stock nanos will be fine. You don't want intense lighting and you don't want a lot of flow. BTW, any of the Sea Horses that were picked up at the swap from the MR table should already be eating frozen mysis--at least the smaller Hikari type. No need to hatch your own, I'd be shocked if they ate Artemia nauplii at all.

I like the solana with the open top design for cooling and you can light it with an LED.

My experience with the Aquapod AIO is all the heat cant escape through the loud fans. Not sure about the others but seahorses will need a steady low temp.

Whoa :) I had no idea. What should I be feeding them? (btw I got the really small ones that were in the tank) I did ask at the table but no one could tell me much about them.

Any advice will be welcome.
