Glass Canopy Foggy - Help Needed

I have had a 175 gallon Oceanic tank for about 6.5 years. The glass canopy tops are very foggy from years of salt, calcium, etc. Even when I wash them off in the tub with warm water and a little bit of vinegar, they never really clear up. I also tried using a razor to get into the glass a little.

Any thoughts to help me get them clear (other than buying new glass).

make one out of screen and give your tank some more o2 exchange

get lime calcium remover then just make sure to rinse super well !!! but i would replace it if you wanna keep a glass canopy good luck!

loose the glass and go with either eggcrate or a mesh screen top, its better for your system anyway, you will get better gas exchange and you system will be healthier..

Mesh Screen ftw. but if you really want to save the covers, try soaking them over night in at least a 1 to 4 ratio of vinegar and water.

I have a similar problem but if I go topless and just put the screen, the tank overflows would sound like Niagra Falls.

Wouldn't using a sump provide enough gas exchange?

The more the better...... And when that glass gets foggy guess what it does to the ligh that supposed to be in your tank
