Reef Octopus xp1000sss skimmer

I have the above skimmer on a 4" platform in a 9.5" tall drain compartment, so it's essentially sitting in 5.5" of water. Turned the skimmer on and the water isn't even making it 1/3 of the way up the body-it just bubbles over the bubble plate and dissipates. Is something wrong with it?

new skimmer? used? may need break in time.

itll take abt a week for the slime coat to build up inside the skimmer.. i have a super reef octopus and had to put mine in 3in of water or it would fill the collection cup with water and overflow it..

The skimmer is used. I would think that if I turned it on the water would at least rise half way up the body even without breaking in. The water just bubbles out of the bubble plate and seems to die.

have you check the airtubing
