breaking in a skimmer again?

i had to inspect the pump in my skimmer because it stopped working so i pulled it all apart and cleaned everything the best i could. i just plugged it back in and the water level is really low. i kept my original settings on it. is my skimmer going to have to re break in now because i cleaned it.

Possibly. Give it a couple of days to get up to full speed again. It should not take as long as it did when it was brand new.

Just to be sure...what did you clean it with?

i just cleaned it with my hose in the backyard, scraped as much of the algae off as i could and wiped it down with paper towels. it was only in the tank for 2 months so it really didn't need a deep cleaning. the pump shut off for some reason so i just had to take it apart and i figured while it was apart might as well clean it. did i do something wrong?

Just asking to make sure you didn't clean it with soap or something else that would have been a poor choice.

Is the pump ok now?

haha naa im smarter then that. yea its ok now, it was weird it just wouldn't turn on after i cleaned my skimmer cup then once i took it apart the pump magically worked go figure lol. thanks for the help kathy.
