So I just got the apex with the eb8 and lab probes which I waited a month for and the aqua controller doesn't even come with a plug just works off a backup battery for now.....the dvd I got doesn't even work on my pc but I did get the unofficial guide off here and I'm still stumped where do I begin???? First I've been trying to setup up the Internet with it I plugged into my router and put my name and password for the router in the apex display screen how do I know if it's working? I haven't been so confused in a long time my fianc? thinks I've lost my mind , I have a fellow reefer coming by tomorrow to help me set this thing up but I need to learn this and not just have someone do it for me

And I also went out and bought a bridge adapter so I don't have to run the wire but currently it is hard wired to the router just so the apex gets control of the router before I go wireless

Y does it have a plug for it then? Whatever with that I'm not even worried bout that, I just got this thing should I be setting up my Internet connection first? Im also reading to check the eb8 through the display to see if it's reading the right amount of plugs because sometimes people get wrong readings

No, the name really doesn't matter. That's just how its identifying it. If you added another Energy Bar, it would probably name it eb8_4

Ok so I'll leave all that alone for now, geez I feel like this a lot for me and all I managed to do was correct the time and date.lollll don't laugh lol.....ok so onto the internet I have it plugged into my router 2 rooms away from my tank ( after the Internet is good in here I want to set it up wireless with my netgear wnce2001 universal wireless adapter.....I haven't set up any software on my pc as the disc it came with doesn't have software and I don't know hich software to download off there site as it looks like firmware anyway.....but I do have the app for my phone ....all I did was put my s/n and p/w in the display

Not sure what you mean by plug. You control switches. You can add fake switches to control other things. I would advise setting it up from the computer, its much easier that way.

The actual controller has a plug for a 12v plug all the way to the left but I'm not worried about that a friend said its for the back up battery so if the power fails then the unit can still ksend u a text message......which now as I think about it how can it send a text if it needs the router which will go out with a power failure I guess its just if the gfi trips or what not

..and that is quite a feat for some people and something to be proud of! Take the small victories!
..and yes I was laughing :)

No harm in waiting for your friend to get there tomorrow as controllers can be a pita to set up. Have him walk YOU through the set up ;)

There is no "Software". You log into the APEX via a web address. The default I believe is http://APEX. When you first power it up it receives an IP address from your router just as if it were a PC on your LAN.

SLOW DOWN....TAKE A BREATH and read the quick start manual.

That's usually what I get if my Internet isn't working but my Internet is working and I can go to any other page do I have to do something in my router settings ? My buddy coming over tomorrow has his wired up not wireless so I don't think he knows the wireless stuff

Ok so Timewarner signature home service had to reconfigure my router to accept the new wireless adapter woo hoooo that's workinggg! What's next , I have an Ethernet wire on my light setup to control 2 channels so I'll mess with that than its off to calibrating the probes then pumps and so on I'll keep everyone posted on my technical HELL!
