has anyone redone aquascape

I got a 210 reef mixed with sps lps zoas
everything is growing but ive been thinking about redoing the rock work on at least half of the tank.
is it possible to move the corals to a few tubs and redo the rockwork or do you think i will get a big cycle in my tank and it crash?

Re-scaping should not cause the tank to cycle again, if anything, it would give you a chance to syphon out the excess detritus.
I would add a powerhead and heater in the tub or tubs with coral since these task usually take a few hours and replace with new saltwater in the tank when done. (disguard tub water that held corals)

+1 rescaping is done all the time, you just have to be careful with your livestock while doing it

+2, I have done it many times, just to give the tank a new look!! It resparks your interest into the hobby sometimes!

So true, but I have learned to be extra careful. When you put them in tubs, or tanks make sure they don't touch as well as keep in mind those sweeper tentacles. Also, when placing the corals back in the tank keep in mind where they were before concerning lighting & flow exposure. You will be fine!!:hug:

Don't forget Power Head & heater in the holding tanks/tubs... If you need help give holla.

1 thing to remember...you'll need a lot more room in the 'holding tanks' then you might expect! Most of the corals/rocks with corals, will not be stacked up, and will require more 'landscape' then they do in your display tank.

Agree with what most people said. Have done it many times without cycle. However there is always a risk to corals which we all take.

IMO i dont think you should re-do your rock work. The tank looks great how it is right now.

Yeah I re did my aquascape and the only loss was a sensitive sps frag, I'm not surprised though, there was a slight shift in parameters. No biggie, all other colonies are doing great.

yeah I can see why he wants to redo his scape...Maybe take some LR out to make more space.

i do it every few years, i just did it 8 weeks ago. never had a problem
