Thinking about placing a seahorse couple in my fuge. It will be about 25 gallons, 20 inches tall with low flow. Seems ideal for a pair of seahorses.

My biggest question from people that have them is about temperature.
I am looking at a tropical variety so they can handle reef tank temperatures however a lot of data online says no higher than 82deg. In the winter I keep my tank at 78 but in the summer it gradually creeps up and by July and August the temperature might climb to 84 a few times.
Is this OK as long as it doesnt stay there for too long?

give George, same screen name, or Walter, screen name Wallysworld, a PM...they are both into seahorses and I had a nice conversation with George about them at our last meeting. I'm sure either one of them can answer any questions you may have regarding them....

Seahorses are prone to bacterial infections as the temps climb, mine have hit 80 in the past without an issue but it's a risk they don't get sick; my normal temp for them is 72 to 74.

Is that temp for a more northern species?
I have seen seahorses all over the Caribbean especially in Haiti and Bonaire waters exceeding 85deg. These are the kind I am looking into.
I know nature is a lot different than tanks. But that is a huge difference in temp.

There is a lot of bacteria in the tank. The main reason for the low temps is to keep disease at bay. Most of the bacteria is harmless at 75 and below.

Yes they can live in higher temps but In higher temps can take a better stronghold.

I personally wouldnt recommend it.

Thanx
