I just installed a fan on my tank to turn on when my main lights turn on and off when they turn off for the summer. i have noticed my ato is turning on a lot lately, is this because of the fan for any reason? i just don't want my salinity to drop. i don't mind if my water is really evaporating that much more with the fan, just wanted to double check and make sure this was the cause.

Fans cool by evaporating water faster. You're daily top off should increase with the use of fans.

Just spring for an ATO and have a 5 gallon container, that way it'll stay stable salinity wise. Until then, mark your water line and whenever you walk by the tank make sure its at that line. Once you get the ATO it'll be on worry free auto-pilot

If your ATO is set up you will have no problem with salinity swings. That's the whole purpose of the ATO.

One suggestion I can give is during the peak of the summer you are going to want a bigger reservoir because with the fan and heat your going to be refilling it every other day.
i dont mind that, i mean i do have A/C in my house and my parents always keep it on during the summer do you think the fan is really worth it to use? i guess its something i will have to see when we start getting hotter days.
