LFS testing your water?

This is for the people who have their water tested by their LFS..

Please invest in your own Test Kits. I do have my own Salifert, Hanna for P04, and I normally test my tanks water myself.
Couple of days ago I decided to have my water tested at an LFS just for the heck of it.
They used API test kit. I knew my tanks water is completely out of wack so imagine my surprise when they told me my calcium was fine as well as my alkalinity. When I got home I proceeded to test again. Boy where they wrong.

My alk is still over the roof 16 - 21dkh..... LFS said it was a little high, but that most people run their tanks with high alk anyway.:lol2:
Calcium way way way low 170ppm.........
All my test kits are fairly new with expiration dates of 2014, 2016...

Moral of the story: Have your water tested at your LFS at the risk of your animals life.

No, they did not try to push anything. They happen to be a good lfs, just bad test kits.
