Any of you TUNZE powerhead owners really see any significant differnece in your coral growth or tank overall? Or are they just over rated? Correct me if I'm wrong, but most reefer who have them buy them because they aid in growth of SPS corals?

Mine were probably happier with my Mag 7 and four MJ 1200s because with them I had very random turbulant flow. I was also using a lot of juice. With my Tunze I use very little wattage and I get much more flow. If I had a wider tank it would have different results, because I only have a 55 my Tunze creates a whirlpool effect rather then random flow. I think it's ok because a lots of reefs see laminer flow, as long as you're not blasting them I think it's ok.

I think people buy Tunze for the same reason that I did, low wattage, stream like flow and that you can control them. Plus they last forever.

You have to buy a controllable Tunze for the random flow effect, the fixed speed Tunze is a good replacement for plain power heads because the higher reliability and low power consumption.

Any random water flow will make your SPS happy, but some of pumps\devices available may not make you happy because the failure rate, added heat to the tank and\or power consumption.
