Okay guys have a question I'm trying to secure a piece of coral and the coral glue doesn't seem to be holding its still very loose and its not an encrusting type of sps so i was wondering if anyone knows about a two part epoxy that i might be able to use that would hold better on the rocks as i can't take the rock out that i wanna put it on its a foundation piece any help would be appreciated on a side note was wondering if any one would know if water weld by JB weld is saltwater safe I've used it to patch stuff but not sure if its water safe i ask because that can be used underwater and when i hardens its like a rock and it will conform the rock better than the glue i feel just a thought

Glue and reef safe epoxy...

Now I have this question... that is always in the back of my mind for you... Why are you always looking for a cheaper way to do things. Not that it's a bad thing... in some ways.. but every post I see you question items. You question LEDs. You question reef safe products that you know work... It just does not seem logical the way you try and over think this hobby. As if you want someones approval before you go and do something.

take the coral glue put some on one of those wooden posiccle sticks and set it on the spot where ur gonna put the frag then give it a couple of seconds for it to set on the rock then put some glue on the frag and put the frag on top of the spot where u put the glue on the rock. that should make it more stick. ive found this way to work better than to just put glue on the frag and set the frag on the rock. hope it makes sense.

Lol it's not that I'm looking for a cheaper way to do things it's just that I the past I have just gone with the flow and then later seen a more cost effective way to do the same thing and then kicked myself in the Butt for not doing more research like with the LEDs I just don't wanna drop a lot of money like I did with my MH and then regret the decision so now I just like to get feedback to help me finalize my decision like they say it takes a village to raise a child lol but as for the epoxy I've been using the coral affix and brs it just seems that they don't bond to live Rock too good before the fish knock it over lol so I figured an epoxy would be better and just wanted to know if there was any other than the ones at the pet shop lol

Jb water weld is reef safe, ive used it for years. I do notice my skimmer will bug out for a few days though and wouldnt choose it over IC gel [or something similar]

If you use superglue or any of those reef safe glues, you should apply to frag outside water. Dip in water then let it expose to air then put back in tank and place it where u want it by rubbing it on the surface back and forth. Then i hold it for a few seconds while my fish attack my hands and its good to go.

Isnt that the point of the site? I have learned practical advice about this hobby from this site that are better than the LFS advice. Sometimes the LFS are pushing sales or have inexperienced people running the sales floor. Thiere are a ton of DIY projects and home blend recipes on this site that work equally as well.

becareful if using an epoxy..don't let it touch live tissue of the frag...I've lost many SPS to RTNing because of this not realizing it's touching...many epoxies heat up during curing... you can always glue the frag to a small piece of rubble then to the larger rock....I also always use an old toothbrush to clean the area of rock first of any algae etc.. to get better adhesion.
