I swear I saw something like this somewhere - hows this idea sound (something I won't be able to do for years to come though...)

Instead of a typical refugium, why not have a mini mangrove swap?

My idea is this - have a large tank (like 500g) and have a sun room behind the tank wall (like a greenhouse or something). The refugium would be in that room, as kind of a raised pond. You could turn this pond into a mangrove swap, have a nice mud bed, biotope specific fish, etc...

Then plumb the return into the main tank, just like a normal 'fuge...

I think that would be amazing- does anyone think somethign like that could be feasible?

Most things are feasible with enough money.

sounds like a breeding ground for mosquitoes :D

wear protection in there :P

this would be cool if you lived somewhere the weather permitted it to be outside or like a flow through where there is a cut out in your house for the water to come in and out. Like Dean said, that would be like a million dollar idea ;)

LOL- just a thought...

How cool would it be though? I don't think mosquitoes would be a prob. inside and in water that wasn't stagnent :)

sigh- I need to hit it big... my tank is really a motivation to make more $$$! i'm just upgrading to a 37g and I'm already thinking of upgrading again!
