What kinds of foods? Frozen? Pellet? Flake?

Since I am starting fresh with fish next week (Pair of SA Clowns coming in). I need to get stocked with food.

What is everyone using? What type and brand?

Is Mysis just Mysis or does the brand matter???

cant wait to see them... i give my clowns frozen mysis soaked in selcon for immune support.. also i use new life spectrum pellets both small and large for my tangs

That is what I was looking at.... do you feed other frozen?? Or just mysis. I was also looking at the Spectrum... New Life, i will look at them.

When I had my tank going, I made my own food mix. I would use fresh clams,shrimp,scallops,nori and cyclopeeze and mix it all together in a food processor. I would put the mix in a ziplock bag and flatten it out and freeze. I would spend about 10 bucks and have food for 3 months

Wow, that is a great idea!!!!! Would you feed that to everything?

You actually bought clams and shucked them? This is going to be a really stupid question, but all raw??? I have bunch of empty cube trays from old food, I can reuse them to make cubes!!

To add to this.. if you get egg crate you can pour your mix over the eggcrate and have your own cubes

I may have to do make my own. Then no additives, no need to rinse it off. The eggcrate idea is great. I may run to shoprite later to get some stuff

Yeah, I actually bought fresh clams and shucked them. Yes everything is used raw. You can add other stuff like squid, filet of fish(sw),mussels, etc. I fed it to all my fish, inverts and lps. Everyone seemed to love it. I plan on doing the same mix when I get my 125 up and running. The cube tray is a cool idea but I'd make sure the cubes aren't going to be to big. I used to just snap a small piece off the sheet and thaw it in some tank water. Then I would use a pipette to suck it up and squirt it in the tank and around the lps

my lps are fed when I feed the mix of cyclopeez/mysis and plankton. They get full tentacle extension when I feed.. then I feed the lucky few... mysis directly from my mixture.
oh... and I forgot.. I also mix in every other week... Nutramar Ova.

the flakes used are ocean nutrition. I used to make my own concoction of different meaty foods, but it gets everywhere.. I made paste to feed my LPS and feed the individual coral, but noticed there is no need for it when I do my other feeding.

So all in all... they are all happy.
