Wrasse with bankers hours

I've got a melanurus wrasse about a month ago, cool little fish.
My problem is he completely disappears every day at about 5pm, no idea were he goes. I've got a RSM 130 so not all that many places for him to hide. My wife sees him every day but at around 5pm he's gone so only get to see him on the weekends when I'm home before 5pm.

Know its common for these guy to disappear for a few days at a time and bury themselves in the sand (happened 2 days after I got him were I though the had somehow jumped out) but has anyone heard of this being a daily thing?

Also not sure what/when he eats as I feed around 8:30pm when he is nowhere to been seen. Thinking he might be eating my snails and I seem to have less of them these days.

Yes it has to get use to ur tank and ur lighting schedule..
He most likely eatting pods and stuff around ur tank.. give it time he will get use to ur lighting schedule and be out more often

This is very common. Eventually he'll adjust to your light schedule. They bury every night, so that is where he goes.

sounds like he has 'jet lag' and has not yet adjusted to your lighting schedule...give him time, he should be out more

thanks for prompt replies, makes me feel much better I'm not slowly killing him.
He is taking his sweet time adjusting but now that I know its normal I'm much happier.

lol this reminds me of mines that i sold..every night around 6 it would disappear and and reappear the next day. the day i had to catch it to sell it i had to take all the rocks part and he was no where to be found..dragged on fingers tru the sand still couldnt find it..but the next morning he was swimming around normal like nothing happend..interesting lil guy and quite a hider..

mines def DID eat my snails caught him in action alot of times..thats why i sold him

amazing how well they hide, have yet to figure out were he goes and I've spent lots of time looking in my small tank
