With all due respect to OSHA, they never actually said how far from a structure to place the generator. Being a Volunteer firefighter for 22 years and having responded to 911 calls for this exact type of incident I recommend making sure the generator and it's enclosure/cover/canopy are placed at least 20-30 feet from any structure that is is being run around. This allows for wind direction to dissipate the exhaust before actually reaching the structure. Any closer and you might be taking a risk of CO poisoning.
