My clown fish laid a bunch of eggs and ae guarding them like crazy. what are the odd of the eggas hatching and growing to a size where they can sustain themselves?

i have a six line, hippo, chevron, domino and hawk. do the babies congregate like a family around my carpet anemone or is it once they hatch its every body for them selves and the parents dont care.

When I had my clownfish spawning a couple of years ago, I never had any survivors. But I did try hard to save them. I read some tips on how to get the eggs if you want to try to breed them. They will lay their eggs in the same place every time, so I method is to take a ceramic floor tile (a small one) and put it over the area that they lay their eggs at and wait. They will then lay their eggs on the tile, remove tile and put in second tank. There are also many other methods on egg removal, that one stuck in my head.

As far as raising them, you will need to provide rotifiers for there first meals. Most clown fry will die within 7-10 days, but if make it past that should be good to go.

I remember reading a thread on RC about a guy in mineola or east williston who was raising a mixed breed clown fish of ocellaris and clarkii's I think. If you are interested try searching for his thread. It was about a year ago or so. Very intersting and a lot of info on rasing clowns

1. Piece of ceramic
2. Take eggs out of tank and place into rearing tank.
3. Good filtration (maybe some malachite blue)
4. Good husbandry
5. Water changes
6. Available rearing food source

Viability of hatch 50% - 70% if you are good/lucky enough.
