I know kimoyo (Paul) has one but I don't think he has it set up. Anyone else using a Tunze Master recirculation pump?

I'm looking at either the middle or large size pump. I wanted to know in terms of flow & head pressure, which one (if any) would be equivalent or better than the Reeflo Darts that I am currently running.
I'm tired of them seeping at the seals and grinding at the carbon seals. It cost $25 to ship them back to Sequence every time.

I had the smaller one. I was loud and big. After getting 2 seperate housings for it it was still not worth it and was noisy. I ended up sending it back. I heard the bigger ones has less of a noise issue and work well.

Hey Warren,

I have the 1073.140 model and it seems to be pulling 180W on my cyberpower backup. I spoke to Roger about this and he said it may be a mistake. Right now its pushing my sk5220 dual becketts at 30scfm (could be higher if I put more flow thru it) and giving some good flow as my return, so its powerful. Right now the noise is a slight issue, its not terrible but definitely not quiet. I don't have a closed stand and the pump has a whir to it. I let Roger listen to it over the phone and he said he could get it quieter if I sent it in. I was going to but I just got my new rock into my tank last week so I don't want to go without a skimmer right now. The whir is a vibration/noise coming from the pump because I've isolated it pretty well. I have it sitting on 3/4" of silicone gel and hose going from the inlet and outlet. I really don't see any better choices out there for my situation (watts vs flow) right now so I might just build a box for it.

Paul

I'll have pics of my setup soon and your welcome to take a look during the weekend if you want.

Paul,

Would you say it's much more flow than a Reeflo Dart?
I don't want to end up with a pump that is too big for my application or I would need to get their middle sized pump.

Interesting that Roger can silence the pump if sent in to him. I wonder if there were modifications done on the pumps since introduction.
Moonpod had also said it was an annoying vibrating noise.

Thanks Paul!

Paul, thanks for all the info.

After thinking about it over and over, I just might take my chiller off the loop and have it run with a separate 70w pump. Since the return on the sump is now split to two tanks, I don't think that it is as beneficial as it was when it was just a single tank in which the chilled water returned back into the main tank vs the other end of the sump.

I can set up the pump to come on 1/2 a degree before the chiller and this would only run occasionally during the warmer months.

Think I just talked myself out of spending $550,

Update

I had to send it back because it started making a very loud screeching noise and wasn't pumping as hard. I hadn't shut it down for a week or two and just finishing setting everything up when I shut it off for an hour and this happened. I sent it back today and paided $28 for shipping which is annoying, its not the money its more the principle.

Roger said he should get it back to me by the end of next week.
