You can use GE Silicone II(Believe it the one for Door and Window) and to paint the overflow box, I believe you can use Krylon Fusion.
hey nano, i think ive heard you should use only the type I sealannt as type II has mold inhibitors in it. I am just looking for the sealant that best adhears to glass and arcylic, if there is any.

also i have to be positive that the paint will be reef safe, do you know anybody has used it??

Someone on the board must have used it. Over on RC people use it to spray paint PVC thats in the tank so it will be less visible.

I believe its type 1 that has mold inhibitors because its for Bathroom applications. I used type 2 as does everyone else from the search I did on this board.

Once the overflow box is on the inside of the tank silicone is going to be your best bet. If your overflow box is external and its acrylic while the tank is glass, there nothing you can really do to make it hold in place. The weight of the water in the box would eventually pull it off, if its too much.

You could sand the edges of the acrylic so it would be a little rougher and the silicone would have a rougher surface to adhere too.

Type II for windows and doors, make sure it does not have microbes inhibitors in there, some of the new ones do.

I don't think any paint work well on acrylic, especially running saltwater over it 24/7. Do you know what happens to a fish after it swallows a small chip of paint?
