Skimmer goes crazy at 5am

My skimmer was running with no problems for about 2 weeks after I got it. It is a Pacific Imports RPS-1000 (recirc, external) skimmer. In the last 5 days @ 5am the skimmer would go nuts and start overflowing onto my floor none the less. I have no idea why this has happened much less @ 5am:irked:. The level other times seems to be consistent. Any ideas????? Thanks in advance!

It may be some inverts spawning, anticipating the sunrise.

That actually makes sense .... I did add about 15 inverts about a week before this started happening. I need to find a way to get this under control. Has anyone had this issue and what did you do to remedy it?

:scratch: If inverts are the 'problem', there's not much you can do, but place the skimmer on a timer.

Deanos thanks! Is there any good way to tell if this is caused by the inverts? I was thinking of putting it on a schedule also..plus moving the collection container inside the sump...

have you thought about modding the collection cup so that it drains into a large container?

this has happened to me a couple of times..

reasons why it happened to me are

1. glade plug in air freshner (mom did it :lol2 quickly removed it after finding out...
2. hairspray in the air :lol2:
3. snails or something in my tank spawning...
4. fish food (frozen brine, mysis after lights are out) doesnt happen anymore though...

well these are just some examples of y my skimmer went nuts after the lights were out or even still on...
