Hi - I have a 3 week old corner salt tank. Right now I have 2 bags of live sand, about 55 lbs of live rock, 2 clowns and maybe 5 hermit crabs. I just hung Radeon pro LEDs this week. Using the wet dry sump method right now with bio balls but have been told that once I start with coral I need to ditch the bio balls and get skimmer. Sine I have space issues thinking I will add the skimmer to chamber 2 in the sump. My main question right now is with a power head. I have the Jebao wp25 and set it up on what seemed to be a low setting. I had it about 2/3 of the way towards the front on a side wall and about 6 inches down, pointing across the front towards the opposite corner. After it was on for about 10 seconds I saw one of my clowns near the overflow and was not able to fight the current. Not wanting him to get blown up I turned off the wp25 thinking it is just too strong for my tank. Is that true or can I position/point it better to make it work? How much flow do I need in a 54 g corner tank? I plan to have a good amout of coral in there once the tank matures a little more and about 8-10 fish. I was originally looking at vortech mp10 because I really like the smaller profile in the tank with wire on dry side. However, it being a corner tank that looks best when pushed in close to wall, that's what I did. So one wall has less than 1" gap and the other wall has 2" gap. On the ecotech website they say the mp10 needs 2.25" clearance on outside. So I need another damn .25"!!! I know tanks are meant to be moved when empty. What is the best and safest way to shimmy the tank out an inch or so from the wall considering I already have a functioning tank.
Any ideas/suggestions on the above would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
