Use fish pond netting. I used egg crate but it blocked too much light.

My friend built a pretty cool cover with fish netting and soft side of Velcro on both sides of the edges. And then used the hard side on the tank to keep it in place

Removing the rim from any tank that comes with one installed on it is always asking for trouble. They are on there for a reason ;)

Screen covers can be made for cubes like this though it takes a little creativity (we spoke about there during the cover demo at the Frag Swap).
You'd need to make a square/rectangular screen cover and then add a small piece cut from egg crate for the curved portion. That piece would then also be covered with mesh and attached using small cable ties.

As there is no inner 'lip' for the cover to sit 'in', probably best to attach it using Velcro cut in thin strips. :cat:

There are instructional video's on a Sticky at the top of the DIY Forum here on how to build the screen covers :)
