ESV Salt Mixing

So I'm starting a new tank soon, a Reef Octopus T90. The thought of mixing five gallons of water at a time for filling the entire aquarium seems like a bit of a daunting task.

So I was wondering if I could do the following. Fill a majority of the tank with RODI water to start and then pre-dissolve the granular parts (salt & mag) in small containers of RODI and add it to the sump.

Does that make sense? Think it could work? Anyone have any easier ideas?

Buy a brute garbage can 32 gls (or 2), or just make the saltwater in your tank if nothing in it is "alive".

Its the initial setup for cycling, so it would probably be fine to mix in the tank. I live in an apartment so to buy two big garbage cans and then toss is huge waste to me.

Since you wont have live sand or live rock or any livestock in the tank, fill the tank with ro/di water and then add salt.

Brute also sells 10 & 20 gl containers also. I use the 20 for water changes (do 15 gls worth)

Mixing it in your tank (initial setup) would be no different than mixing it in a brute container. Save your cash and restricted space and do it in the tank for startup. After that, an empty 5g salt bucket works great.
