How many wild caught fish have died in your care? I will keep a tally and update every few days.

3 wild caught fish have died in my care in 4 years of having a tank. It was a group buy in college so for the first 3 years the tank was a community tank between my friends. I can't take full responsibility.

1) Panda Puffer

2) Pilot fish or golden trevally

3) Kiri Triggerfish

I have kept salt water fish for 30+ years . I also work in the trade both retail and importing and raising captive bred fish.

I can tell you tons more of my captive bred fish have died either through error or culling.

Not to mention I am an avid fisherman. who also used to fish commercially.

I would measure the fish I have killed in Tons.

Yet I still rescue fish 1 at time from crashed tanks or from deliveries where they come in near death.

75 % of all of my fish have died in my tanks. Other 25% I gave, traded or sold so I don't know how they are doing.

In my tanks 10%-20% die in my care long term. Most of my losses are from stressed/sick specimens and usually within the first week in my tank.
