This is my personal experience and un-educated guess : lights. When I switched from bulbs to led's my leathers bleached completely. I think the zoanthella is very delicate when it comes to light changes.

Here's a pic of my tank. Everything seems to be growing fine but my leather on the left and toadstool in the center seem to be turning white. They both started off as small frags and have grown to this size and have started to show tiny hairs...but seem to be losing color. Could they be shedding??

Wow! That's mighty white. They look like something stressed them to bleach... How long have you had them and what have you changed since you've had them?

I've had them for about a month...month and a half. Haven't changed anything. Added a reactor, running biopellets, that's about it.

Oh, I did do a 3 days of darkness before adding the reactor. They didn't seem stressed by it though. In fact they grew a bit more.

It's not cause of the lights..I had my fiji yellow leather in quite a few spots in my tank and the happiest it's been is right smack in the middle under the brightest light my LED's have to offer

Contrary to what many think, toadstools like at least medium light. Bleaching is normally a sign of zoo loss. However, my experience with softies has taught me that they really hate large pH and all swings. I noticed that prolonged exposure to a very high/low pH and/or alk caused them to bleach and crumble.

so for the last day, this will be day 2, I have not turned my kessil LED on and instead have put my stock hood back on and run just the arctic blue light for about 8-9 hours a day and the corals seem to be okay and my leather seems to be getting a slight hint of it's color back. Noticed it also tends to look really thin during lights out and plump up a bit when the lights go on but not the seem fullness as when the LED's are on. I'm hoping this soft arctic light will provide it with some relief and it will gain its color back.
