Just wanted to report that my Longnose hawkfish and I have finally come to terms.
No seriously we all know that the Longnose is on the finicky eaters list and this particular specimen hasn't eaten anything I've put in the tank in the two months I've had him. But he's fat as a cow. I've seen him picking at rocks after lights out. I know he's picking at the pods but with the two wrasses I have I was afraid they'd decimate my pod population and the Longnose would die.
Usually I feed my fish with the return pump off so all the good stays in the display tank but I keep my circulation pumps on. It's fun to watch my fish chasing the feed.
But yesterday I decided to try the feed mode on my new jebao pump (which I won at the frag swap) basically it turns the pump off for 10 min as I feed my coral and fish.
To my surprise the Longnose was eating some of the brine. It seems that since the brine was suspended motionless. He was able to get a good look at them and decide it. Was good enough to eat.
Man am I relieved. I wonder if my Longnose butterfly would have survived if I had discovered this sooner.
