Hey Everyone,

Just my luck, my cousin's purple tang has been in quarantine for about 7 weeks now, his ick has been completely gone 3-4 weeks ago. Now he looks like it is developing head and lateral line disease. He is eating and active like a champ. Is this disease contagious? If not I think maybe he will do better in his much larger tank...or is it best to treat this disease in QT?

If its water quality, than it may do best in his main tank where my cousin does weekly water changes, its hard for me to keep up with the QT water changes, especially now through finals week--college.

i have a chevron that had it, left his face all scared. one ugly fish now.
from what i read its not treatable and not contagious. some one recommended amino acids in food and another guy said it does nothing so i didn't bother. it went away on its own. i read that fish in the wild don't get it and say it could be carbon that causes it.

the disease is not contagious and is usually caused by stress, poor nutriation, water quality, the stray charge as mentioned or some reports of carbon maybe a factor....regardless tangs need alot of veggie matter in their diet and although it may be eating well it may not be getting the proper nutrition... soak Nori sheets in Vita chem, selcon etc..the infected areas could improve, but unfortunately many times the scaring remains...

I currently have a LFS rescued Emperor Angel ...it had HLLE, ich, flukes and a bacterial infection....a couple of freshwater dips, Prazi and Cupramine treatments along with a balanced diet with the soaked Nori sheets...although it still has some scaring it looks like a different fish now...
