Help Connecting RKL Head Unit to SID V2

Trying to put together a used Reefkeeper Lite system so first thing is updating the firmware.

I'm told i have to connect the Head unit directly to the SID but i dont have the connectore provided by digital aquatics to do so.

In snooping around posts i found

'9. Plug ONLY your RKE or RKL system head unit directly to the SID. After a few moments, your head unit should show up both in the left side tree view (under the SID) and in the main pane. [Note: If you have the new silver SID v2 and a ReefKeeper Lite, you will have to use an RJ-12 pass-through female-to-female coupler/y-splitter to connect the SID to the RKL head unit. A female-to-female programming coupler is included with all new RKL system purchases. Otherwise these are available online or at most Radio Shack stores.]

So i bought something from home depot that didnt work. It wasnt rj12.

Then ordered this from amazon:

Offex OF-MC-6P6C-RE Inline Telephone Coupler (Voice) RJ12, 6P/6C

This isnt working either....

Can anyone help point me in the right direction of the female/female inline coupler i need to make this work?

their are two types of sid mine are marked v2.0 which came with the lite and a v2 that
came with my elite. the v2 plugs into computer, with a bus connector on the other end.
the v2.0 has a female bus on one end that the head unit plugs into, and you use a usb cable on the other end.
what sid do you have?

i have sidv2 ... the ends of the v2 and the head unit are both male bus connections, they would both need to plug into something.... i think.

the sid that came with the lite has a female bus on one end that the head unit plugs into. sounds like you have the wrong sid. i could lend you mine but your too far.

thats for the elite. on the elite the bus cable can be unplugged from the head unit.
I'm sure a member close to you could lend you one. or go on digital aquatics site and see how much it is, or if its available.

dammit!!!! haha. I hate my RKL and i havent even hooked it up yet.... Does anyone on LI have the SID for the Lite?

That is the right SID. You plug one end of the SID into a dual phone splitter and the Head Unit cable goes into the other. Here is a link of what you need

Well, finally got a splitter that worked. plugged the sidv2 and my rkl headunit into it and things started happening. rkl shows up under the sid in the tree. when i go to update the rkl because the revision column has 02.06 of 02.07 in red, the program button is grey and i cant click it.

Just registered on the DA forum but have to wait for approval.

Just curious if anyone would know off hand whats going on...

Ugggg waiting to get approved on the digital aquatics forums. It might be time to scrap this and get an apex!
