I recently sold a tunze 6055 to a guy on RC. Tested it working as I always do before selling anything so it doesn't bite me in the ***. The guy hits me up literally 2 weeks later (today) saying it stopped working.

Dude is asking for a refund and money to ship it back to me. WTF type of cheap is that. I am not one to not satisfy a "customer" but I can't believe after 2 weeks it just stops after working flawlessly. If there was a problem, it would have appeared well beyond that.

Can I get input before I decide to send this guy a refund?

No warranties for used items?

I would tell him to &$@: his $@@&8 in a %#^*+#}{{ while }%?

He was 13 days to late.
Thats the risk when buying used.
It happens to everyone, he just needs to man up and move on.

i ALWAYS go above and beyond as a seller and often bite the bullet when needed to morally do the right thing or help out someone that could use it. it also depends to me how they approach me about the issue. are you saying that something went wrong and wanted to let me know or are you demanding i refund you money plus shipping? all depends on the attitude. dont tell me what i have to do and ill likely offer to be MORE than fair. again, seems like this guy needs to told to hit the road with his demands, like u intentionally sold him a pump that u knew was no good...come on.

Ok, well I told him to contact tunze and if they can assess the issue and determine that it was somehow my fault with the pump in working order for 2 weeks under his possession etc then I would refund him minus the return.

I want a letter from tunze and contact information to confirm.

His email was perceived as giving me an option to refund + return mailing or pay for the repair by tunze.

His email

Hi Mike

The pump stopped working. I was wondering if you knew of any issues before it was sold to me. We have two options, you can return me the money + cost for shipping it back. Or I can send it to Tunze for repair and you can pay me for the cost of repair. I tried both power supplies and it is not working.

Exactly! How they approached the issue. Make demands is ridiculous.

I have refunded money for a car I sold because I felt bad the motor blew after a couple days, but it was presented back properly.

Your doing this the right way. Good luck!

Their is two ways to look at this. One is the buyer and second is seller. If it was a fair price and good working order. The buyer is taking the chance. I won't feel bad if you sold the unit at a decent price and was honest on how old it was. . As a buyer view you got a fair price but the unit was worn out and old. Still taking chance. But feels like he got taken. That is why I will never buy something used especially in this hobby because you think your saving money in the long run your not. But you can take a chance and get a good deal at times. Bottom line if your price was fair and you are honest on how long you used it. I wouldn't feel bad. Its the buyer taking risk here.

Yeah.

That's why I always give a video in my fs thread of the item in working condition. This is RARE but in my opinion worth it. I know it was working and I show the buyer that it is working.

The item was 125 shipped which is a decent amount but the pump retails at 200+ and I included a brand new adapter ($45).

Here is his email on 2/27:

Awesome. Looks like everything is working great. I really appreciate the help.

Vishnu

Here is the email when he first got it and tested it on 2/26:

Got the pump. Works great. Thank you.

Awesome. Glad you got it and eveything working properly.
Again, if you have any issues with the power supply that was in the box. Let me know. I'll try to see if I can get it replaced. Only problem is you would probably have to send it to me then I can send it out and gotta pay for shipping to you. It'll be cheaper than paying for a new one ($40~).

I stay hard on communication when I sell an item over the web. I even text him the receipt for shipping and pictures when I was packing it up before heading to usps.

you've got your bases covered. as i said, sh#t happens... for everyone, today was just his day. not your fault. pump was used, sold as so. it worked when u sold it... and for another 2 weeks!!!! by that point. i'd say it was well out of your realm of responsibility. don't sweat it. there's always gonna be someone to complain n ask for what they don't deserve. he may try and make you feel bad or convince you that you're wrong, but the fact of the matter is that you are not at fault or wrong. just the fact that you went as far as to ask advise on this forum shows that you care more than most people would. don't be swayed by aggressive, pushy people that want what they don't deserve, because they refuse to believe that they could be wrong.

Why would you need to replace the power supply? If I sold an item in perfect working condition and it stop working 2 weeks later tough ****. Good luck with the paypal claim.

He's fresh out of luck. It's a chance you take when you buy used. I would say 75% of the stuff on my tank is used, including AI sol lights, tunze pumps, apex controller so you know I'm spending hundreds, but I always keep in mind that if these things stop working that's my problem, because they are used. I wouldn't communicate anymore with him. Or make any promises to fix anything, even if he has proof of communication with Tunze. Send him a final email staring the item was received by him in working condition and you cannot be responsible for what happens 2 days, 2 weeks, or 2 years later.

I am just curious also as to why you woukd ask him if he needs to replace the power supply to let you know. If it was working before you shipped it out without any problems why would there be one later? Of all the components to a pump you choose the power supply?
I am not saying you are at fault by any means. You did your part. He got i. Said it was working great. After that in my opinion it's now out of your hands. He confirmed it worked and was working great.

I purchased another power supply because I was testing all the equipment prior to setting up the tank which the tunze came with. When I plugged in the power supply, for some reason tunze thought it was a good idea to put the led indicator to "red". Unfortunately, not owning a tunze before I did not know this was normal and if you do a google search for it then the responses show that the power supply is "bad".

**I owned a tunze before but the 6025 or 45 do not have a jumper to change speed so no LED indicator.**

I personally run the jebao rw series so I had no reason to rush and purchase a new one. I purchased a new one in order to sell it, I tested it and confirmed it was working in my tank for almost 2 days. Took the video showing everything was working etc.

I know words are just words but I think others who have purchased from me can chime in that I take all precautions when I sell anything.

I could possibly get the previous owner to confirm if he had any issues with it but I normally don't bother the prior seller on something that was working. I have just contacted him this morning to confirm he had no issues. If he did then I feel a refund is definitely in order.

Mike

To add: the indictator at the jumper was a STEADY RED light.

I came on here to know I did the right thing and your questions led me to ask the prior owner for confirmation. I feel that this let's me know what I should do.

The consensus especially after getting the answer from the prior owner, this dude can contact tunze for any issues.
