Wonder if anyone else has ever observed this.
I've been fighting a small outbreak of red algae on my sand bed for a few months. No other algae on the rocks. No and Po very low, tank doing great (knock on wood).
Went away over night for business and my 250w 20K Radium stayed on all night, due to operator error. It was probably on for about 24 hours straight.
I come home this morning expecting to see more red algae, and almost all of the red algae on the sand bed was gone. Yay!
My normal Radium photo period is 11am to 7pm supplemented with 4 Actinic T5's, 2 hours before and after the Radiums come on/go out.
Maybe the added Radium lighting period normalized whatever was happening on the sand bed.
