considering manhattan is one just one (big,rich) city and global is like practically the whole united states canada and or every engrish speaking country in the world!

MR is mainly a marketplace now. i think thats why we are bigger. Also the reason why alot of folks ive spoken to have accounts in other boards and websites (Nano-Reef, R2R, RC etc)

ah yeah when i relocated away from nyc to socal i pretty much lost/abandoned my original mr account (griMReefer) having lost the password/email along with the local niche interest but then found top-level domain REEFS.com (must be worth a million bucks?) and am surprised to see how much MR has grown in just the past decade and has gone global but yea the main traffic remains mr not reefs.com globally.. so far

Its not only a market place I read almost every thread, I don't always comment but if I can learn something or help someone I will read / comment. Dont get me wrong I buy,sell,and trade but you'll find people are alot more generous with prices and such. We have a really great community you just have to wean out the bad ones for yourself. Welcome back

This forum is not only a marketplace. Yes alot of traffic comes from the marketplace but We have exceptional/knowledgeable members that help out and post on the other forums and give great advice. Sometimes i sit back and say wow this person took time out of the day to answer and help out another member. This is a NY forum that has been around for a very long time. Reefs.com is pretty new compared to it. Give it time and it will shine as its already doing....

Anyways Reefs.com is a Masterpiece in progress that is going to explode. We are working very hard to make it the best reefing site just as manhattan reefs is. Community always plays a big part in a success of a forum/website

i can see maybe mainly, as many of the posts seem to involve FS/WTB.

but yea, not ONLY a marketplace!

MR has a great community of people who are willing to help, but the majority of new posts are FS or WTB. i keep coming back because of the great help i received from people, but i also use other boards because, sometimes, MR is only a market place

indeed, it does seem that the bulk of recent posts are FS/WTB threads, and that discussions about current events/concerns/occurances in reefkeeping seem to get moved to the NUDIBAR :bigeyes:
