Hi everyone here. I have been using both RO and RODI for my 90gl and 34gl separately about 3 months, I feel that the 90gl use RO water only doing much better on soft corals as zoanthiz, gsp, leather ect but bad results on sps corals, especially acro either slow growing or bleaching. ..then the 34gl was using RODI doing exactly opposite. Any reefers here has same experience as I did? please feel free share your opinion here and thanks in advanced!

Ok John, will bite
Depends on the quality of the water coming out of each unit. As well as feeding, filteration, temp, lighting, etc, in each tank. If both tanks where identical, and both units operating optimally, then the comparison would be fair.
The final stage, the di stage, is where the smallest particles get removed. With a properly operation ro/di unit most of those particles are silicates. There has been some interesting thinking on silicates in aquaria as of late. Here's one http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2003/1/aafeature1 , and there's others. The conventional thinking was silicates are bad and must be removed because they could/will cause blooms. Some newer studies are showing these blooms, from this source, are short lived. From where i'm sitting me thinks it depends on the type of sand and rocks you have, and any other means of silicates that are being supplied, vs how many source are present that consume.

Thank you man! Went to lfs this morning, the owner told me,maybe soft coral need more nitrate to grow than others, that's why the RO water doing good on my Soft corals (he said they like dirtier waterand) RODI water doing better on the sps,cuz they like more clean water. It Make sense to me, isn't it? Thanks!
