Since this came up. Any recommendations on when you should place a clam in your tank? Wait for tank to be fully established, etc? 6 months with stable parameters, 3 months, 1 year+ etc.

My recommend is stable parameters and good lighting. Also you need to keep cal and all level good it need cal to grow. Lighting is very important. I don

I added mine when tank was up for less than a yr. I don't really know when's the recommend time to add one but it worked out great for me.

So what's the appeal of these clams? sure the colors are great, but to me it seems that big is not always better, since they do take up a lot of space. Once it does grow to a foot, then what? time for sushi? LOL
