Cats Eye coral

This weekend i went to one of the best Marine LFS in England. Its not too far from me as i live in London and the shop is in Essex (east London). Whilst i was there i saw some of the most amasing Cats Eye corals i have ever seen. I mean these things were truly amazing, up to three or four flourecent colours in each one, pinks, reds, blues, greens and even orange.

Of course my first question was how much, but unfortunately it seems that these corals are CITES 1. so thats five years before i recon ill get my hands on one. Just wondered if any of you guys had them, or maybe even babies. Whats the score with these amazing corals. Someone must know something as they quite litterally blew me away.

Well, if they are the "cats eye" coral that we have here is the states, then they were Cynarina or Scolymia sp and are NOT CITES app I, they are App II. They are a solitary lps coral that lives on the sandy/muddy bottom.

Thanks for the info mate, unless there is a species that is Cites 1 then i think you have the right one. How long will this coral stay in Cites 2, any idea how long its been cites 2. They have to be the most amazing coral i have seen and im desperate to get hold of one. Im just a sucker for anything that looks like a teknocolour blamonge.

P.S. Cites is the endangered list that all of us lay awake at night worrying about. Because this is the only regulatory board that really governs the sale and trade of corals. And their suggestions arn't allways appropreate IMO.
