I just got a bubble tip anemone along with some live rock that have aiptasia too.

I've had great success w/ peppermint shrimp in the past, eating aiptasia (and a few large feather dusters as collateral damage, but no coral).

I am thinking of getting a peppermint shrimp to rid my new rock of aiptasia but am concerned that it may eat my bubble tip as well.

Anyone have experience with peppermint shrimp harrassing/eating bubble tip anemone?

Thanks.

They are very selective. I've never seen one touch any anemone other than an aiptasia. They even ignore small crucifer anemones, which can sometimes look exactly like aiptasia, so I think it must be a chemical/taste attraction they have.

The only time they might bother another anemone is to steal food you put in it, but they would have to be starving to death to do any damage.

I've got four peps in my tank along with a BTA. No trouble. In fact, if they tried to get into the BTA and eat it, they'd probably lose the battle and become lunch for the anemone.

I'll second the 'all clear' on that...I've had two peppermints with my BTA and never even saw them near it.

Peace,

Thanks All for the info - I'm going to get a peppermint shrimp. Hot water injections just don't do it.

and i'll third. my peps have never touched my BTA, but I have seen my CBS tugging on my LTA. Not eating it, just pulling on it...
