I've got stung couple of time by the spotted rabbit fish and I can tell you, its really painful. The pain usually last for about and hour before subsiding gradually.
However, pain aside, its venom will not cause any severe reaction in a normal healthy person.
I would believe ppl with hypertension or any heart related problem should take precaution not to handle the fish.
In the aquarium hobby, you probably get the Lo fish, a handsome bright guy with a prominant black spot (some do not have the spot though).
Treat it with care should you net it . . stay away from its dorsal and anal fins.
Oh thanks, but no I had read about them before purchasing it. It's just that I have a bad habit of putting my hands in the tank all the time, and just wondered how careful I ought to be!
