I've had a lot of baby bangaii's go from my refugium into my sump through the overflow, and they all have survived. I've since put a screen (NOT a prefilter) on the outflow, and no more have gone over the waterfall. I think your gramma may have been dying or dead already when it was sucked in. Can you modify HD eggcrate to screen your overflow? I would recommend something like that.

I'm bummed! Yesterday afternoon I bought a royal gramma and this morning after never even seeing it when I put it in the tank, I found it dead in the sump! Must have gone through the overflow. Anyone else ever have this happen with little fish?? I also bought a yellow wrasse, but it swam around all evening and at least I got to enjoy it for a few hours if it doesn't appear after the lights go on. Is there anythng you can put over those holes in the overflow to prevent this or should I stay away from little fish. I have a 90 gallon acryllic tank with the overflow in the left back side in the shape of a square. I feel like I deliberately killed a fishy!!!! BooHoo!!! Thanks. I love all your help on this board!!
