this may or may not help you--we came up thru the formica counter right next to the sink.

It's just as easy as drilling glass - like a knife through warm butter.

Depending how big a hole you want you either use a diamond tipped drill bit or a diamond core bit.

Look for one of the threads on how to drill glass - it's exactly the same process.

Uh, I'm a bit confused here. Why would you ever need to drill a hole in a sink for an R/O unit? You can't get to the plumbing under the sink?

I'm wanting to drill the sink in order to install the spigot that came with the unit.It allows you drain the storage tank located under the sink.
Thanks Josh

I am still confused, why can't you tie into the drain itself? If you are under the sink, thats where the drain for the sink is I presume.

SPC, the drilling has nothing to do with drainage,it is only to access the RO water that has already been treated under the sink.Every- thing takes place under ths sink, the only visible sign of the system above the sink is the spigot. In order to install this spigot,I must drill a hole in the sink next to the faucet.

I had to do this the other day when I got an R/O system for my friend. It's not a big deal. I drilled a 1/2" hole using a carbide-tipped drill bit. Before you start the drill, you want to press down hard at first to crunch through the porcelain so the bit doesn't wander.
