A friend gave me a bottle of Kent Marine Tech D, which is a coral dip and conditioner. It contains DI water, iodine, potassium iodide, potassium bromide, proprietary compounds and stabilizers. Would you use this as a coral dip?? I would hate to throw away the bottle.
Thanks

It IS a coral dip. I've used it on some inverts too with good success. (Brittle star, blue Linckia)

It is NOT the same as Lugols (that is an iodine preparation) but you can use Lugols as a dip too, 40 drops to a gallon of tank water.

I don't keep sps but yes, I would, if you think you need to disinfect them before adding them to your tank.

FWIW, Lugols is a stronger preparation but not as strong an antiseptic as Potassium Bromide, from the reading I've done. Betadine Iodine is better for this application. I don't know what kind of iodine is in the Tech D...I'll ask Don or Chris next time I'm talking to them. Tech D was designed for dips, and you should have good results if you follow the directions.
