decided to try the old slice and dice technique on a shroom about a week ago ...

I attempted to use a PVC endcap as a growout cup in my tank ....

problem was the small pieces of shrooms kept getting blown out of the endcap which had some sand and live rock rubble in it...

today I found 4 small shroom growing beneath the rock in my tank which are the same color as the one i diced into 4 pieces...

they had attached to small pieces of the substrate sand now how do i get them to attack to some rock ?

also any ideas on how to keep them in the grow out cups ?

i would like to be able to propagate these for use in trading and any info you can supply will be appreciated

I to have tried the slice and dice on one of my ricordia shrooms and i placed it on a rock and it kept blowing off in the water current. so i talked to some people and they told me to
Glue the shroom to a rock you want it to stick on. (ie: use durro superglue)and get a container that the rock will fit into and fill with tank water. Put a drop of glue on the rock and then place your cut shroom on the glue drop and let set a few sec. make sure you try to glue only the foot area of the shroom. let set a few seconds to adhear. then set the rock with shroom on it in the bowl of water for several minutes to set up the glue.. and make sure the shroom is now attached to the rock. then you can replace it in your tank in a low current area. DO NOT READD THE WATER FROM THE BOWL BACK TO THE TANK. Let shroom out of water circulation for a few days so it can also adhear itself to the rock along with the glue.
you can also put a peice of breatable plastic. like the plastic that grapes come in that is slotted, over the top of the mushrooms and hold earch end of the plastic with a rubberband on each end. let set like that for a week and then gently take rubberbands and plastic off shroom. plastic may or may not adhear to the shroom if so cut plastic close and remove and it should ba attached..

I have used both methods oh my ricorda and my purple metallics and i found the superglue worked best for me...

Hope this helped

some people sew them to the rock, others use bridal veil cloth, I simply place the cutting in a dish with rubble and place the dish in a low current area in the tank. That works best for me.

esmittie,

I tried the grow out cup (used a PVC endcap form a 3 inch line) but i cant seem to find a low enough current area to keep them from blowing out

I went to walmart and bought some bridal veil 77 cents a yard im using this to cover the cups and securing it with a rubberband this seems to work better

thx for the ideas
