I actually have a 180 with a Jaubert plenum. I am thinking about putting an undersized skimmer on in attempt to lower my phosphates. I want something that is low maintenance with a drain for the skimmate as opposed to a collection cup. I now have a large DIY that can really do a number but I shut it off about 2 months ago.

Please comment on the concept and the brand and size of skimmer. Thanks

Aqua-C Remora Pro. To compare, I have one on my 75 gallon, which is the lower end of what it's rated for. I believe 125 is the high rating, so it would be good for your 180 as a 'partial skimmer.' As far as maintenance, you just plug it in and go, and clean it twice a year or so...

Peace,

Chip
