Hi,
Thought I might try one on these ampmaster pumps. Presently have 2 SEN900 pumps one to drive the ETS 500 skimmer and another as the return pump, which is restricted by about 20%(ish) with a tap in the return line (if I let it run flat out I get bubbles in the main tank from cavitation in the return line).
Now the SEN900 specs say at 4ft I get about 14gpm with 3/4" tubing. So I move about 28gpm at 4ft using the 2 pumps.
I want to use 1 AMP pump witha 1.5" inlet and the outlet split to 2 3/4" pips. One will then return water to the tank and the other to drive the skimmer. Now I assume this is the same a 1.5" inlet and outlet.
According to : http://www.marinedepot.com/a_pu_dolphin_as_info.asp?CartId=
The ampmaster models give approximately:
.....at height->__________4ft_________8ft
model= 2100___________37gpm________27gpm
model= 2700___________42gpm________32gpm
model= 3000___________52gpm________42gpm
Now is a skimmer AND a 4ft high return the same as 8ft pressure...on one pump?. I really have no idea of what the backpressure of the skimmer might be.
So any suggestions on the model to get, cost not really an issue for the difference between the models (in for penny in for a pound!). Has anyone done this on a similar system???.
Is the best idea just to get the 3000 and dial it back if I need to. (However the numbers seem to suggest the 2700 or even the 2100 would be ok.
Thanks
