Ok...I have discovered from a previous post that there are options for adding additional sand to my sand bed. I wanted to buy Southdown, as I was advised, but there is NO Southdown available in my area (South FLorida). All HD has is silica play sand. Can silica sand be safely added? If not, what are other sources of inexpensive quality sand to add to my already 3 to 4" live bio-active sand bed?

Hurrifan, me and a bunch of my friends used to warm up the Hurricane QBs by catching passes, Ted Hendricks threw a few to us also, can you guess what year this was?

Now to your question, if you do a search on this board for silica sand you will see many different opinions even among the experts. As far as I know there is no cheap substitute for Southdown sand, I used Carib Sea and Esv oolithic sand as SD is not available in my area either.
