Hey. I checked out the pics of your 180 modified berlin reef, and I must say it's very impressive. I'm new to the subject of reefs- my goal is to set up a nice one in my home. Can you give me any insight into cost factors involved in this? Thanks all...

Plan on $30 - $50 dollars per gallon. That should get you tank, rock, sand, stand, lights, skimmer, ect. ...

If you can find a good LFS that you can trust and prices are not to bad, you can buy your equipment from them. Always buy tank from LFS since shipping will kill you on a tank.

Other equipment, you might be able to get a better price buying MO (mail)

However, if your LFS's price isn't too much higher, then buy local and SUPPORT them. Paying a little extra can help them maintain quality livestock and equipment.

One more thing, buy as big as you can afford, everyone always wants a bigger tank in long run.

You cannot drop a lot of $ and have Instant Reef
It took me 10 years to get to this and probably 20 grand.

As noted $30-50 is a good estimate. My main short cut is.
I have a shelf in my tank that allowed me to get the rock wall high without a lot of LR.

Pick a goal and stick to it.
Mine is SPS.
